Kaldi’s Coffee
The first Kaldi’s Coffee shop opened in 1994. Kaldi’s Coffee is now a local St. Louis Coffee shop chain with a total of 7 locations. Kaldi’s Coffee has a vision “to be recognized and respected as one of the leading specialty coffee companies in the nation by providing an exceptional coffee experience to our customers and guests.”
Kaldi’s Coffee has a mission to exceed competition and continue company growth. They plan on achieving this goal by “committing to sustainable business practices, providing educational opportunities, and supporting the communities that we serve.” This means they will provide everything that coffee shops have to offer and more.
Kaldi’s Coffee mainly receive their coffee from Colombia, Costa Rica, Panama, Indonesia, Nicaragua, and Ethiopia. Majority of the sources from which they obtain their coffee beans use sun drying/washing method to dry the coffee beans and some sources uses washing/natural method of drying the beans. Kaldi’s maintains a great relationship with their sources. In the coffee origin section of their website they provide information such as how long they have been customer of a source, at what altitude the coffee is grown, how the growing of the coffee cherry is managed in that location and etc.
Kaldi’s supports local community organizations through donation, which is one of many ways they prove to be more than just a general coffee shop. They receive large number of requests, and are “not able to honor them all”. Therefore a system is set for requesting donation, which requires the request of donation to be submitted three weeks before needed. This allows Kaldi’s to reviews the requests accordingly and encouraged to submit early.
Along with serving great coffee they also serve great food. Kaldi’s serve kosher food, and this leads to satisfying all customers who may consider themselves carnivore.
“Kaldi’s is a Certified Organic handler and processor of organic coffees and goods.” This means that they buy and sell organic coffees and teas that is grown “without the use of harmful chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides.” In which they “follow a tedious and carefully-monitored set of specific operations when handling and packaging organic coffees and teas.”
Many Events will come and go, so the best way to follow events presented by or featured by Kaldi’s is by going here.
Kaldi’s became one of the first retailers in St. Louis in 2001 to offer certified Fair Trade Coffees. Kaldiʼs Relationship Coffees are list of goals created by Kaldi’s to insure and to improve the growth, trade and maintain the great value of coffee. And there are many other recognitions of Kaldi’s. As Kaldi’s continues to provide this great service, they will continuously be recognized for their work. To see their growing list of recognition, click here.
